Having worked with Sands to write and produce their 'Finding the words' video, we were asked to redesign their Spotlight magazine that goes out to multiple audiences.
The magazine holds a lot of news and information for people who have been affected by baby loss and supporters of the charity. The weight of contents was cramping design a little, which as a result made it hard to navigate articles and manage content. The publication design felt more like a report than a magazine.
Oyster worked up a selection of visuals as spreads and cover options. Each spread was managed with a word-count guide that showed how design worked with different amounts of copy. We then worked up the preferred direction with copy supplied to guidelines. The impact was immediate and very well received.
