The International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) protect the rights of workers in cocoa growing regions as well as ensuring that supply lines are ethical and sustainable.
They work with NGOs to support cocoa communities, influence policy and advise manufacturers. ICI approached Oyster to enhance their brand communications, improving the presentation and clarity of their message and enhancing their profile.
The majority of cocoa is produced in Africa, with Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire being the largest growers. The colours, graphics and styles we introduced to the new brand reflect the African cultures in these countries, adding a sense of location and community. ICI has a vast amount of great photography and the brand enables this to come through effectively, as strong image can always deliver a powerful emotional message within a brand.
We redesigned key design templates for ICI including their internal and external reports, briefing documents and supporter facing materials. These were produced as both a print ready version, as well as online, CMS driven websites to allow ICI to easily create and share online reports and make changes and updates. As part of the brand development work, we redesigned their infographic, illustration and icon styles to modernise the look and enhance the visual engagement of the brand.
With the fresh design style, better management of copy and careful attention to the promotion of key information delivered within the guidelines, we started work on the Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems (CLMRS) report. This was a significant piece of work that positively reflected the efficiencies and impact of the brand refresh. The report was also developed as part of our web work with an interactive version of the report developed online.
The new multilingual ICI website helps to highlight the need for the organisation and gives their audiences clear user journeys to the content they need.
The knowledge hub has allowed ICI to audit all of their documents and digital assets and reorganise them in a way that allows users to find relevant information by theme, country, and document type. The digital solutions Oyster have built also allow them greater efficiency in creating and promoting new reports and influencing the cocoa industry for change.
